Communications
The Communications Committee is in charge of disseminating AIGA Portland content through various marketing channels. This information includes local event notifications, updates from the AIGA National, and information that Portland Designers may find interesting or useful.
Since our communications are more than just web based, the Communications Committee looks holistically at this website, our email, and a handful of social networking channels. The committee currently consists of the following positions all of whom report to the Communications Chair:
- Email Director
- Facebook Director
- Flickr Director
- LinkedIn Director
- Online Calendar Director
- Print Director
- Twitter Director
- Web Director
Our philosophy is to be where our members are, while speaking in the medium that they want to hear. If you are interested in serving on the Communications Committee or think there's another channel we should be participating in, please let us know.

Steve Harkin was born in Santa Barbara, California and began drawing at an early age. He received his BFA from Drake University in 1995, and studied painting at Scuola Lorenzo de' Medici in Florence, Italy.
After a short stint as an installer at the Des Moines Art Center, Harkin moved to Portland, Oregon where he began working for Nike, Inc. Most of his years were spent in the Retail, Running and Basketball categories where he worked on projects such as Niketown London, Nike SHOX, LeBron 1, Kobe 1 and Battlegrounds. Selections of Harkin's Nike work have been featured in CA and Graphis.
In 2005, Steve accepted a creative director position at HERENOW Creative Network where he works to this day. HERENOW is a team of artists, designers and project managers who focus on designing brand experiences for a wide range of clients.
An interactive and motion graphics designer, Ryan moved to Portland in 2003 and immediately volunteered with AIGA by directing our monthly networking event dMob. As Volunteer Chair and Board Member, Ryan grew our chapter's pool of recruits by helping local design professionals connect with and contribute to various chapter functions.
As Facebook Director, Ryan maintains the AIGA Portland fan page by adding events, uploading post-event photography, and responding to comments.
